This recent assignment was a Web site redesign project at my current employer. In August 2007, ACSA had chosen to purchase a proprietary content management system from a vendor in the east coast. I was hired on as the Web Manager to work with the software vendor to redesign our Web site.

The project took exactly one year to complete and was finally launched in August 2008. My personal contributions to this project included Information Architecture (IA) design, wireframing, project management, software/hardware installation, database installation/configuration, Web site testing and debugging, web author training, writing user documentation. Cali Construction Company specializes in home improvement projects in the SF Bay Area. Independently owned and operated by my long time friend Hung. Before the Web site redesign, Cali Construction’s Web site was lacking information and an image that represents the quality and workmanship of the company.

The site now have better search engine optimization and a more professional look and feel. Since launched, Cali Construction have been getting more inquiries and more traffic to their Web site. Visit Cali Construction for more details.

CSBA had a Web site that was about 10 years old and need a major redesign to improve usability and manageability. I was the only Web developer in the organization, so we had to hire a integration company to assist me in the process.

I designed the theme of CSBA’s new Web site. One of the cool features of the site was the side bar navigation menu. The menu is dynamically contructed by using an XSLT template to generate an XHTML menu from XML data. I was responsible for vendor selection, cms software selection, cms training and certification, information architecture design, web author training, budgeting and coordinating with staff on content migration.

Software packages that were chosen for this Web site: Sitecore CMS to manage content and to integrate with CSBA’s iMIS membership database, ASPDotNetStoreFront for the online bookstore, and Google Search Appliance for site search. Visit CSBA’s new Web site for more details.
